Today we're featuring an interview with Greg Clendenin, author of The Clendenin Massacre. Our author interview series provides an opportunity for our readers to get to know our authors on a deeper level and also learn more about the types of books we're publishing.

Greg Clendenin was born in Charleston WV in 1953.  He is a direct descendent of Archibald Clendenin, Sr., father-in-law to Ann, the heroine of the story.  Greg is a graduate of Liberty University in Lynchburg VA and also received his MBA from the prestigious Crummer School of Business at Rollins College in Winter Park FL.  Greg is well-known as a successful businessman, philanthropist, key note speaker and community leader.  As a successful entrepreneur, Greg has a passion for excellence, bringing the entrepreneurial spirit of his Clendenin ancestors into the modern day.  The Clendenin Massacre is an important historical event in the annals of early America. 

About the book: The Clendenin Massacre

When sixty Shawnee Indians, led by their chief Cornstalk, arrived unannounced at the Clendenin settlement in Virginia, the family hesitantly offers their home and food in a gesture of friendship and peace.  Things quickly go horribly wrong; the event forever becoming an important part of the annals of early America, even spurring the King of England to issue a historical proclamation.  The story is also about a woman, Ann Clendenin; a pioneer, a wife, a mother and a farmer.  Her actions and courage, in the midst of incredibly frightening and difficult circumstances, made her an American heroine.

What will readers like about your book?

Readers will like this book if they like true stories, especially those that have historical significance.

Alex Haley, Randall Wallace

What drives you to write?  

I express myself better in writing and get a sense of satisfaction out of it…like doing a painting on canvass.

What is your writing process? 

Stream of thought.  Have to be inspired.  Have to have a mind not preoccupied with anything else.

If you could visit a place for research, where would it be? 

Edinburgh Scotland which I will this summer.

Is there going to be another book?

I am in the midst of writing about different historical events in our family covering a span of about a 1,000 years.  My first book, The Clendenin Massacre, is not the one I would write if I were writing in chronological order but this year happens to be the 250^th anniversary of the event.

What are your thoughts on self-publishing verses traditional publishing? 

I like the control I have in self-publishing but also the assistance that I get from IP.

Why did you decide to publish with Infinity Publishing?  IP makes it easy to publish. 

Their support and direction is good and solid.  I don’t have time to do these things myself. 

When you’re not writing, how do you spend your time? 

I bass fish, play golf, travel, spend time with my wife and kids and family, go to kids ballgames.  I am also a business executive and that is a full time job for sure.
